AXIAL FLUX STUDIO / LEGAL

The short version
- Axial Flux Studio solves on your computer. Your designs, projects and results are not sent to us. The desktop app has no telemetry or usage analytics.
- To sell and license the Software we keep a small account record: who you are when you sign in, what you bought, and which licences and computers are yours.
- We use a few specialised providers for sign-in, payment, licensing and hosting. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
What we collect, and why
| Data | Where it comes from | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email address, name and sign-in records | You, through Clerk (or from Google, if you choose "Continue with Google") | Your account and sign-in | Contract |
| Account record: an internal ID linked to your sign-in | Our account service | Linking purchases and licences to you | Contract |
| Billing references: Paddle customer, transaction and subscription IDs, plan, amounts, status, dates | Paddle | Issuing and maintaining your licence; refunds | Contract; legal obligation (records) |
| Licence records: licence ID, plan, status, expiry | Our account service and Keygen | Activating and checking your licence | Contract |
| Download records: which installer version you downloaded and when | Our account service, when you download from the website | Providing the download to account holders; limiting link sharing and abuse | Contract; legitimate interest |
| Computer records: a random ID per installation, its activation date and last check | The desktop app, through Keygen | Limiting a licence to its computers; letting you release them | Contract; legitimate interest (preventing licence misuse) |
| Network data: IP address, time and request details | Cloudflare and Keygen, when the website, account service or licence check is used | Delivering the service, security and abuse prevention | Legitimate interest |
| Support emails and anything you attach | You | Answering you | Contract; legitimate interest |
The installation ID is generated randomly when the app is installed. It contains no hardware serial numbers, user names or file paths.
Payment details (card numbers, bank details, billing address and tax information) are collected and held by Paddle as merchant of record, under Paddle's privacy notice. We never receive full payment details.
Cookies and analytics. The website uses only the cookies sign-in needs (set by Clerk) and stores no tracking cookies. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and measures page performance without cookies and without following you across sites. There are no advertising scripts.
Who processes data for us
| Provider | Role | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and identity | Email, name, sign-in records |
| Optional "Continue with Google" sign-in (an independent controller for your Google account) | Your Google account's name, email address and profile picture, passed to Clerk | |
| Paddle | Reseller and merchant of record (an independent controller for payments) | Billing and tax data |
| Keygen | Licence and activation service | Licence, installation IDs, request IP addresses |
| Cloudflare | Website and account-service hosting, database, website analytics | Account records, request logs, page-view statistics |
| Cloudflare Email Routing, Google (Gmail) and Resend | Receiving and sending support, privacy and billing email | Email correspondence |
Some of these providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires, transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
If the business moves to a company
If Axial Flux Studio is incorporated, reorganised or transferred to a successor legal entity, relevant account, licensing and support records may be transferred as part of that business transition, subject to applicable law and any required consent. The successor must honour the privacy commitments that applied when the information was collected. This does not permit new uses of your information that are materially inconsistent with those commitments.
We will give account holders advance notice by email of a planned change of controller, including the new controller's identity, contact details and the proposed effective date, and update this policy. We will obtain consent before a transfer or change of use where the law requires it. Your applicable privacy rights continue. Your engineering files and solver results remain on your computer; this business transition does not authorise us to collect them. Paddle remains independently responsible for payment information under its own privacy notice.
How long we keep it
- Account, licence and computer records: while your account exists, then up to 30 days in database backups.
- Billing references: 7 years, as US tax and accounting rules require; Paddle keeps its own records.
- Records of computers released from the account page: 2 years, to enforce the release limit and investigate misuse.
- Download records: while your account exists.
- Request logs at Cloudflare and Keygen: under their standard retention, which is short (days to weeks).
- Support email: 2 years after the conversation ends.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Email [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. Deleting your account ends its licences; billing records the law requires us to keep are kept until that period ends.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Children
The Software and website are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post changes here with a new date, and email account holders about significant ones.
